Frank Xu

Frank is Deputy General Manager and Executive Project Manager of Shundi Customs Ltd. Also, he is the President of New Zealand Chinese Building Industry Association, and a Senior Development Manager, Project Manager, and Building & Property Analyst.

Frank has 29 years of project management and property development experience, including 8 years design engineer and project management experience in China, 13 years planning and project manage- ment experience in the New Zealand largest construction company – Fletcher Construction, 8 years project management, property development, and general business management experience in the property and construction sector.

The projects Frank involved include high rise office buildings, multi-storey or high rise apartment buildings,shopping centre, supermarket & retail shops, large industrial development and warehouse buildings, residential property development projects etc.

Andrew Crosby

Managing Director of the development consultancy Xpect Property and former CEO of Universal homes  Andrew has degrees in architecture and property. Having lived property development for over 25 years. This includes managing development teams in the private and public sector across dozens of projects. He is an outspoken advocate of advancing the development industry and building people's futures. To this end he lectures property development at Unitec and is a founding board member of the Urban Development Institute of New Zealand.

Brett Heaven

Brett is a co-founder of Rubix and has been a director since 2004. A strong leader, he has relished the opportunity to grow the team into a thriving business. Brett has an intimate understanding of all areas of service that the company provides.

Brett was a highly accomplished and respected project manager of super yacht projects before establishing a project management business. His highly practical background and inquiring mind enables him to ask the right questions of the right people, to ensure that consultants and contractors alike are always working in the best interests of the client.

Brett has an appetite for hard work. He loves forging strong networks and trusting relationships with those around him. He is a direct communicator and confident negotiator, both invaluable attributes in the construction industry and indeed, all facets of the business.

Chris Jobson

Chris is the Northern Regional Manager at Site Safe New Zealand. He will be assessing the projects under Health, Safety and Well-being category.

Craig Treloar

Craig has been with Hawkins for 16 years and has worked as a Project Manager and Project Director before becoming the head of the Auckland region in 2019. 

As GM Auckland, Craig oversees all of our Auckland projects, which range from universities to hospitals, airports, office developments and hotels. 

Craig maintains excellent relationships with Hawkins’ major clients. His calm, well-organised approach and solid planning make him an excellent manager of large projects.

He is known for his integrity – Craig is always accountable and leads by example. 

“My focus is excellence in delivery - doing all of the small things well and creating the right culture in the team to achieve great results,” Craig says.

Craig builds great teams, and excels at mentoring and training others. He has an ability to share skills and experience in a down-to-earth, approachable way. He is an excellent mentor to Hawkins’ cadets and other young construction professionals. 

Dylan Huang

Secretary General of NZ Chinese Building Industry Association, Managing Director of Archiland Architecture since 2010, Member Assessor of Architectural Designer New Zealand, Licensed Building Practitioner, Member of PrefabNZ.

Professionally trained by NZ architectural academy from Diploma to Master degree. During Dylan’s 14 years architectural career, he led the team design hundreds of projects, spent 8 years on prefabrication R&D, building material code compliance, and Building Information Modelling.

Keven Chen

Keven is the head of Asian business at PlaceMakers. He is a highly effective sales manager and account manager with 8+ years of experiences in NZ's construction and building materials industries. 

Keven is also the vice president of New Zealand China Building Industry Association.

Jeff Fahrensohn

Jeff has been involved in the industry for over 30 years from building through to design and project management. He started as a building inspector at Waitakere Council and currently manages a 200+ strong team of building inspectors and CCC assessors. His team carry out around 1000 inspections every day and last year issued 16,000 Code Compliance Certificates as part of their commitment to enabling Auckland’s growth. A current board director of the Building Officials Institute of NZ, Jeff is both passionate and proud about helping enable high quality construction in New Zealand.  

Matthew Cutler-Welsh

"I’m not an architect. I’m not a builder. I do have over fourteen years of experience helping people to improve the efficiency, health and comfort of their home. This includes three and a half years working on the Homestar environmental rating tool at the New Zealand Green Building Council, running a team of home sustainability assessors during the EECA Warm Up New Zealand retrofit campaign, and being part of the panel that developed the New Zealand Rental Warrant of Fitness checklist.“

Melvin Man

Melvin Man is a Chartered Professional Engineer with over 30 years experience in the fields of civil and structural engineering and a member of the New Zealand Engineers Association.

During his work in China, Melvin participated in the supervision of The Eighth Five-Year Plan, responsible for the supervision of underground engineering, road and main building construction; later, he participated in the structural design of several commercial centre buildings.

In 2005, Melvin established MEC engineering design company. The company's business scope covers the structural design of various residential buildings, industrial plants, schools and commercial projects, land division engineering design, flood assessment, rainwater control system design and quality inspection during construction.

Paul Jeurissen

Paul has worked in the construction industry as an apprentice then a cadet for Fletcher Construction, this included working in the international division.

In 1995 Paul commenced work as a carpentry tutor at Unitec. Paul have worked in various trade related roles at Unitec until 2006. From 2006-2014 he worked at MIT in the capacity of Dean for Engineering & Trades. Paul returned back to Unitec full time in 2017 after a three-year period of contracting. The changing vocational education landscape creates opportunities for Unitec. Trades vocational education and training offers huge opportunities for current and future programme offerings which Unitec is well placed to provide. These programmes offer Unitec students industry access and pathways for their careers in construction and engineering industry sectors or alternatively higher education.

Professionally Paul works closely to ensure Unitec’s reputation, quality of staff and student graduates are respected in the industry.

Tim Warren

Tim is an executive level programme / project manager who has led tangible performance improvement through multi-million pound design and construction projects across the aviation, highways, retail and research/education sectors (values up to £42m).   With a background in civil engineering he has the ability to engage with technical and commercial leaders across a major client base and unite often disparate groups in the delivery of a profitable construction solution.

Vijay Patel

Vijay has 13 years’ experience as a structural engineer working in New Zealand since graduating from the University of Auckland. Vijay has worked on an extensive range of projects, ranging from very tall towers to low lying structures. He has experience with a wide range of buildings, from apartments and hotels, to commercial office spaces, to storage facilities, hospitals, sports stadiums and residential buildings. Vijay has particularly strong skills in project delivery from design through to construction, with specialised skills in the structural and seismic design of multi-storey buildings and structures. Vijay was one of three finalists of the coveted New Zealand Engineering Excellence Young Engineer of the Year in 2015.
